Utilizing Dragon Valley

Hey guys,

I thought I'd make a separate portion discussion how to utilize Dragon Valley in many different scenarios. This blog posts goes into discussion about all the Expansion Packs, Stuff Packs, and Store Content that can be utilized in Dragon Valley.

Do take note that not all content may not be listed or pointed out, so if you have any suggestions, I'll definitely continue to add more!

Enjoy!

Part One: Expansion Packs and Stuff Packs

There aren't really any stuff packs that will go well with Dragon Valley, but there are plenty of expansion packs that have been released that can be altered in order to match the theme of Dragon Valley. They are:

  • The Sims 3 World Adventures
  • The Sims 3 Late Night
  • The Sims 3 Generations
  • The Sims 3 Pets
  • The Sims 3 Supernatural
  • The Sims 3 Seasons

The Sims 3 World Adventures

World Adventures was the first ever Expansion Pack introduced into The Sims 3, and what fun feature introduced was none other than tomb-building. Expand Dragon Valley by building and customizing brand new tombs, and even though it may be tricky, for those who can make the best tombs can utilize so much into Dragon Valley. Perhaps you can find more Dragon Eggs within the tomb, or find a mummy in the lost lair down in the depths of these tombs. Even though you cannot designate Dragon Valley as an Adventure World where you can travel to it, if you enjoy mods, there should be some that allow you to travel and treat it as such.

Nectar Making is also a new feature introduced in World Adventures. Normally exclusive in the World of France, perhaps you can introduce it in Dragon Valley also, by utilizing different "nectars" to expand your taste buds and nectar making skills in Dragon Valley.

Registers are also introduced in World Adventures, so you can customize and make your own special bookshop, restaurant (with food register), or relic shop in Dragon Valley.

The Sims 3 Late Night

When you think of Late Night + Dragon Valley, you probably are thinking: "What? You want to put clubs in Dragon Valley?" Of course you can, within the theme of it all of course. Instead of making your typical modern-day clubs and all, you can use the Dive Bar objects to expand Dragon Valley and make your very own Taverns in Dragon Valley. Sure, there aren't any bouncers (which you don't need) and "hopefully" you can find a way to change the bartender outfits to make them look like bartenders, but nothing is nice than adding a unique tavern to match the entire world.

You can also use the Piano and Bass to add to your household of Musicians if you wish to in Dragon Valley (which add on to the Violin introduced).

The Sims 3 Generations

Nothing much can be introduced in Generations, other than the wedding cakes, wedding arches, and some other toddler content that you feel would help aid in your simming time. There are some particular objects that can fit so well with Dragon Valley, so the only thing good is some of the objects.

The Sims 3 Pets

The Sims 3 Pets introduced 3 new pet types to include in your household: Dogs, Cats, and Horses. The main pet that is best utilized in Dragon Valley are horses, mainly for transportation and competitions. Horses would fit well in the theme of Dragon Valley, giving it a more authentic Medieval-ish feel to it rather than seeing cars. Sadly, I don't know if there is a way to make it so transportation is mainly by horse (making every household own a horse). Regardless, they mostly will make nice additions to Dragon Valley.

The Sims 3 Supernatural

The Sims 3 Supernatural introduced and expanded the occult types for Witches, Fairies, Werewolves, and Vampires. Honestly, all 4 of them would fit well in this world and there is so much depth and storyline that could be added utilizing all four occults. Think of having the royalty be secretly vampires (or even witches). The elves are are just humans, and not an occult, so creativity is best. I could see a discrepancy form between the races and so much could be utilized with Supernatural. Not to mention the CAS assets and build/buy content would work very well with Dragon Valley.

Some other assets of Supernatural are plenty of the objects and features that can be used such as:

  • Broomsticks
  • Tardis
  • Gypsy Caravan and Fortune Teller Career
  • Sliding Bookcase
  • Magic Mirror
  • Moon Dial
  • Wands
  • Fairy House
  • Jelly Bean Bush
  • Bonehilda
  • Alchemy Station
  • Philosopher's Stone (Lifetime Reward)
Supernatural helps flesh out Dragon Valley even further and if you already own it, then Dragon Valley would further be worth your money.

The Sims 3 Seasons

The only thing that would work well with using Seasons is just the weather feature, simple as that. Dragon Valley looks stunningly beautiful in the wintertime and man am I impressed on how it looks. Festivals can also be utilized (as long as you don't use the strongly modern themed content).

SimGuruSmitty has also created a festival lot found here.

Here are some images of Dragon Valley in various Weather Scenarios:

Part 10: Utilizing Other Store Content

There is a whole bunch of store sets that would heavily bring the most out of your gameplay in Dragon Valley. I feel like some of these sets will flesh out the missing elements in Dragon Valley, and hopefully you guys either own these sets, or hope to grab them in future sales (Heck I think some are currently on sale now).

NOTE: I will add more information later this weekend

Full Interior Castle Set

Further expand Dragon Valley by creating Castles that include other Medieval content from the Castle Set found via the Store.

The Complete Castle by Castle Kits, Inc.

If you are a talented builder and know how to use these particular items, utilizing moveobjects on and all, these can be tricky but the end result can further flesh out Dragon Valley. Be sure to minimize the amount of castle objects you use to prevent lag, so always make your own walls, but add the curved walls and roof-top pieces if you want to make some unique castles.

Faire Folk Life Sets

What better way to flesh out your elves than to make them somewhat like Fairies (visually). There are plenty of Faire Folk content that makes your sims look more like elves, INCLUDING Teens and Children. Be sure to grab this set if you feel Dragon Valley is lacking in content for these young-ins. Also included are the Nursuery, Slumber, and Den sets that can expand your elves in how they live.

Once Upon a Time Cottage

Once Upon A Time Cottage introduces more clothes for your fantasy-sims to add some more storytelling experiences. There are some nice designs for your elven sims also, and also furniture to flesh out Dragon Valley. This is one of the must-have sets to get.

Stones Throw Greenhouse

This adds nothing more than just the objects (maybe the roof decor if you want to) to expand Dragon Valley. I find some of the build/buy objects useful for decorating, but avoid the Gardening Station, and the roof decor if you want a Medieval Experience.

Al Fresco Street Market

Whats better than none other than having to build your own Street Market in Dragon Valley! Utilize both premium content for teens to have their own lemonade stand, and your sims to sell their groceries (or buy some) Medieval-style. There are plenty of Build/Buy objects in this set that can further flesh out Dragon Valley also!

Tutor of Tudors

What better way than to expand your luxurious royalty with new outfits and furniture that goes well in the Medieval theme. Play King and Queen with this set, or play as the cook also if you wish to. There are plenty of objects you can use that definitely work with the Renaissance Faire Venue and Dragon Valley.

Victorian Fashions

With Dragon Valley slowly turning into adapting into Modern Day Society, Victorian Fashions is a classic that can dress your sims up and match some of Dragon Valley's other CAS assets for the most Victorian.

Edwardian Expressions

Play a little more on the luxurious side with this particular Kitchen Set. I find this set to fit Dragon Valley the most (if customized as much). The windows are the main item in this set, but this set is mostly for your luxurious sims.

Drifter's Desire

Perhaps you want to play Gypsy in Dragon Valley, or a traveller seeking a new life in Dragon Valley. This particular set helps expand that type of gameplay and would work well in Dragon Valley.

Palace of Versailles

This just fleshes out more of your royalty in Dragon Valley as it changes into Modern Day Society. Nothing major of course, and not required for Dragon Valley.

Gothique Living and Sleeping

Get a little dark with Gothique Living and Sleeping that can help flesh out your sims' home in Dragon Valley.

Premium Content

Fowl and Feathers Chicken Coop

Add this to your personal market, or your farm in Dragon Valley. The Chickens would fit well in the theme and would also make some new interactive fun in Dragon Valley.

Malleable Mimic Voodoo Doll

Soothsayer's Crystal Ball

Lord Vladimir's Magic Cauldron

Lady Ravendancer's Book O' Spells

Laganaphyllis Simnovorii (Cow Plant)

All five of these new magical items can further expand your magical gameplay alongside the Baby Dragons and The Sims 3 Supernatural. These 4 objects are must haves to add in Dragon Valley, so utilize these particular objects for your Witches and all.

Wood Fire Oven

Exclusive to Monte Vista, this makes cooking more classical than using a stone oven. Utilize this object to make mostly breads to serve the peasantry, or even a new invention of pizza to Dragon Valley. Maybe you'll see more pizza lying around (LOL).

Wishing Well

Exclusive to Lucky Palms, the wishing well has magical properties that can work very well in Dragon Valley. Replace any of the fountains and plop this down to produce Evil Well Children and much more with this well! Or make your dreams come true in Dragon Valley with a Frog Prince/Princess.
