Baker's Bazaar Collection Tutorial

Hey guys,

In this blogpost, I will be going through a tutorial on how to use the Baker's Bazaar Collection, much like the Savvy Seller's Collection that comes with Midnight Hollow.

Hopefully, this tutorial will make things easier for you guys to figure out and decide how you want to run your own Bakery, and get the most of what you can after purchasing it for almost $20..

DISCLAIMER: Please note that this premium content is focused on the player's sim to run it.  It is not content that is utilized by NPC's and will require the player to put the work in to stock.  If you want content that is "staged" to be runned by NPC's, look into the Savvy Seller's Collection that comes with Midnight Hollow.

What this Premium Can and Cannot Do

This premium content has a list of features that it can and cannot do, and I will list them below:

Can
  • Sell all food objects that are made via recipes or by the following objects:
    • Teppanyaki Grill from The Sims 3 Store
    • Baker's Station from The Sims 3 Store
    • Wood Fire Oven from The Sims 3 Store
    • Deep Fryer from The Sims 3 Store
  • Sell all Birthday Cakes and Wedding Cakes using the Bakery Sales Rugs
  • Sell the food items and remove them from the display
  • Set hours of what time NPC's can run the register
  • Make profit from what you make and sell
  • Be managed by your active household
Cannot
  • Sell nectar created from the nectar-making machine (World Adventures)
  • Set hours of when sims leave the lot
  • Auto-restock if your sims are not running the bakery
  • Be run by NPC's (only the register is "tended" by an NPC, but they serve no function)
  • Sell Build/Buy content (that includes food decor) and requires the Savvy Seller's Collection to sell any Build/Buy content
  • Sell harvestables or ingredients
Functions

Each of these objects have their own function and are utilized in their own way.  Depending on which objects you want to sell, this part of the tutorial will give you an idea of what you want to use in your bakery.  Personally, the main items you want are the Dessert Display and the Bakery Rack.

Delightful Dessert Display

The Delightful Dessert Display is one of the two important objects of this collection.  This object is in charge of storing your food in and keeps them "refrigerated" in order to keep them from not spoiling. There are a total of 3 shelves in this object and they can hold 5, 4, 3 from bottom to top.  Also, there is room outside of the object to hold up to 5 items and are also sellable.

There are only 4 options when using this object and they are the following:
  • Browse
  • Set Markup...
    • Full Price (100%)
    • High Price (125%)
    • Low Price (75%)
  • Purchase...
  • Set Sale...
    • 10% Discount
    • 25% Discount
    • 40% Discount
    • 50% Discount
    • 60% Discount
    • 75% Discount
These options are the same as the Savvy Seller's Collection so I won't go into any detail on it.  The set price for all food objects in this display is $35 Simoleons.

Rustic Bakery Rack

The Rustic Bakery Rack functions the same as the Delightful Dessert Display as it also holds food, but has 6 shelves that vary to hold 2 or 3 food items each shelf. The food also does not spoil in these bakery racks and have the same options as the Delightful Dessert Display:
  • Browse
  • Set Markup...
    • Full Price (100%)
    • High Price (125%)
    • Low Price (75%)
  • Purchase...
  • Set Sale...
    • 10% Discount
    • 25% Discount
    • 40% Discount
    • 50% Discount
    • 60% Discount
    • 75% Discount
Sweet Nothing Simoleon Register

This register functions pretty much the same as the one that comes with the Savvy Seller's Collection and has the following options (same as the Savvy Seller's Register):
  • Browse
  • Tend
  • Check Sales Performance
  • Hire/Fire Salesclerk
  • Set Hours for Lot...
    • 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
    • 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM
    • 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM
The only thing you need to take note is that the set hours for the lot are not the hours that your sims can visit, rather it's the hours for your clerk to be there and run the register.  If you want to set the hours for the building/lot, you will have to use the door that comes with the Savvy Seller's Collection.  This register is not required for you to sell your objects, and you can choose to opt out of hiring a sales clerk and run it yourself if you wish to.

Bakery Sales Rugs (1 Tile and 2 Tile)

These rugs are important for selling "bigger" food items such as Birthday Cakes, Wedding Cakes, etc. that cannot fit in the display.  It's best recommend to put them under tables/counters that will hold these objects.  They have the same options as the rack and display:
  • Browse
  • Set Markup...
    • Full Price (100%)
    • High Price (125%)
    • Low Price (75%)
  • Purchase...
  • Set Sale...
    • 10% Discount
    • 25% Discount
    • 40% Discount
    • 50% Discount
    • 60% Discount
    • 75% Discount
Restocking

Unfortunately, there is no way to actually have a restock option in any of these objects, so these are some tips and steps in order for you to maximize your restocking potential in order to continue restocking your bakery.

Method 1:

This method does REQUIRES you to own the lot and involves entering between Live Mode and Build/Buy Mode.

  • First, you will enter Build/Buy mode.
  • Second, you will Ctrl+Shift+Click the oven in order to spawn the food you like (or you can choose to cook out of it) or cook other foods in the other oven options.
  • Third, you will move the food item into the display area that you choose.
  • Finally, you exit Build/Buy mode and it will be stocked for you.
Even though this seems inefficient, this is one method in restocking your cases.

Method 2:

This method is similar to method one, except it utilizes the refrigerator and objects in your residential lot and DOESN'T REQUIRE you to own the lot.
  • First, you will make your food at home.
  • Doing so will make it so your food can be put in your inventory or anywhere.
  • Second, you will go into map view, and zoom into the bakery lot.
  • Finally, you will place the food from your inventory into the display case.
While this seems more of a practical approach than going into build/buy mode.  Take note that you will not make any profit from this unless you own the lot itself, should it sell.

While this tutorial is short, there pretty much is nothing else you need to do/know about these objects. Just know that it's not run by an NPC and you will have to restock it yourself, should it sell out.

Method 3:

This method does NOT REQUIRE you to own the lot, nor requires you to have your active household do anything or spend anything.  It does, however, require the use of the command console.
  • First, you will need to Ctrl+Shift+C to enter the console and type in "testingcheatsenabled true"
  • Second, you will Shift+Click the ground of your bakery lot and it should allow you to enter Build/Buy mode without owning the lot.
  • Third, Ctrl+Shift+Click the Baker's Station and you will see a "DEBUG_Serve" option to spawn any foods in "perfect quality."
  • Fourth, spawn and organize your displays and racks on how you see fit and move the food objects to your spots of choice.
  • Finally, exit Build/Buy mode and you will have your bakery restocked without having to own the lot or using your funds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I sell Wedding Cakes and Birthday Cakes?
A: By utilizing the Bakery Sales Rugs as they are focused on selling objects that cannot fit the Delightful Dessert Display and Rustic Bakery Rack.

Q: How come I can't utilize an NPC to stock my bakeries?
A: Due to how it's programmed, the store team has left out the option/feature for an NPC to bake goods and stock as needed.  This means that you will have to utilize an active household in order to stock it.

Q: When will this be sold individually?
A: Based on past venues and premium content, there is a random time frame of when it will be sold individually, so most likely after six months or so, if not longer.

Q: It doesn't have an auto restock option, how can I make it stock when I don't own the lot?
A: Due to the function of this venue, it's main use is for active households.  If you want the displays to stock bakery desserts, there is a mod that autorestocks for you called NraasCupcake.

Q: Can I make other food items such as pizza, etc. and stock these objects with them?
A: Yes, these objects are designed to hold and sell any food items created from recipes or other cooking appliances.

Hope this tutorial helps!

  1. In you Restocking Method 1- un-owned lot
You say to go to buy/build mode after spawning food from the oven. Does this not take you to your own lot like other times? If this works this would give me incentive to buy. I don't necessarily want to run a bakery but love the recipes & décor. And would want to visit the bakery.

    1. Apologies for the confusing, you have to own the lot to use method 1. Method 2 does not require you to own the lot.

But if you want to make profit from what you sell, you need to own the lot.
